About Us

El Amistad Club of Round Rock, Texas is a non-profit 501c3 civic organization established in 1968. The founders joined forces to support efforts emphasizing education, community services, veteran’s recognition, and Hispanic cultural awareness. The club sponsors several annual fundraising events and invites area businesses who share a common goal in support of the youth of our community. Today, El Amistad Club has grown to more than 80 members. Many city, county, state, and area civic leaders are participating members of our organization. Our annual membership and sponsorship drive seeks to expand our marketing base and acquire new members willing to offer their time, effort, compassion, and commitment to our area youth and the pursuit of bettering our community. Our core values are our strength. We seek to share our commitment to education, the community, and to inspire the future leaders of tomorrow. In 2013, the club awarded over $120,000 in scholarships. Since its inception, the club has awarded over $1,000,000 to support local students in their educational endeavors. El Amistad Club also supports youth leadership development activities provided by the National Hispanic Institute, such as the Lorenzo De Zavala Youth Legislative Conference, the Young Leader’s Conference, and the Collegiate World Series. These activities have a positive impact on students by instilling a reverence for their culture, promoting their leadership potential, and providing an awareness of government. The first civic project sponsored by the El Amistad Club was the development, promotion, and dedication of Veterans Memorial Park in honor of Robert P. Hernandez. Mr. Hernandez was a citizen of Round Rock who died in the line of duty while serving in Vietnam. The club’s premier annual fund raiser is Fiesta Amistad.  While originally held at Veterans Memorial Park on the banks of brushy creek, the annual fiesta outgrew its original location and was moved to the downtown Round Rock in 1988. Fiesta Amistad is now held at Old Settler’s Park next to the Dell Diamond off Highway 79.  Now Central Texas’ largest Hispanic two day event, Fiesta Amistad is always held on Memorial Day weekend and features live music, plenty of food and family entertainment. Another fundraising event sponsored by the club includes the annual El Amistad Scholarship Golf Classic tournament that attracts golfers from all over Texas. The Golf Classic will be held this year in the Fall (date tba). The friendly competition includes lunch, a silent auction, door prizes, and trophy presentation. Finally, El Amistad Club in partnership with the Austin Women's Business Alliance hosts a bingo fundraiser year-round at Creek Side Charity Bingo for student scholarships and leadership funding.

Our Club Motto

El amistad es mas que oro! "Friendship is worth more than gold."  We continue to extend our hand of friendship to ensure every deserving student has an opportunity to realize his or her dreams. "Anyone can go to the moon, but they can’t get there alone."
